Lara Klaus is a percussionist, drummer, singer, songwriter and educator. She is particularly dedicated to the study and teaching of percussion.
Originally from northeastern Brazil, Lara has been part of several bands and performed with renowned Brazilian artists, including Elba Ramalho and Moraes Moreira. She has participated in major festivals around the world such as the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, and regularly gives concerts and music workshops around the world.
Lara is also part of Ladama, a group formed by 4 women from different cultures (United States, Colombia, Venezuela and Brazil) that uses music as a tool for social change and empowerment of women and young people. The group has released two albums, Ladama (2017) and Oye Mujer (2020) and has toured major festivals in South America, North America and Europe such as Womex and Monterey Jazz Festival.
In 2018, Ladama had one of his songs selected for the Fifa 2019 video game soundtrack. They recorded the Tiny Desk Concerts web series in the United States.
Currently living in Montreal, Lara is part of the international organization of Young Musicians of the World (MJM), where she teaches percussion for children and teenagers in vulnerable situations.
The artist explores different combinations of percussion, from the drum machine to various instruments of African origin, embellished by his guitar playing and his voice. Lara's solo project was born in 2016 and her debut album was released in 2018, titled Força do Gesto.
Lara won the Syli d'argent and the People's Choice award at the 14th edition of the Syli d'Or de la musique du monde (Club Balattou – Montreal).
His original compositions are mainly influenced by Northeast Brazilian music and Afro-Latin music. In her new show entitled Poeira Estelar, she is accompanied by musicians André Galamba (guitar and musical direction), David Ryshpan (keyboard) and Erivan Duarte (bass).

She participated in important music festivals around the world alongside Brazilian artists, such as the Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland), and regularly performs shows and teaches percussion and music workshops, inside and outside Brazil.
Currently based in Montreal, Canada, Lara is part of the international organization Jeunes Musiciens du Monde (JMM) where she teaches percussion workshops for immigrant and vulnerable children and teenagers.
